Captain Memo’s Pirate Cruise
Sail away with Captain Memo’s Original Pirate Cruise aboard an authentic pirate ship, The Pirate’s Ransom, complete with a spirited yet friendly crew of pirates. Choose a day or sunset trip, and embark on a journey through the Gulf of Mexico to a world filled with “briny buccaneers and seafaring seadogs.” Enjoy refreshing, complimentary beverages or “embrace your pirate side” with a free beer or wine. You can also purchase your favorite drink at the full bar. The two-hour excursion is perfect for all ages and includes a treasure hunt, face painting, water gun games, stories, and dancing.
Encounters with Dolphins
One of Clearwater Beach’s best encounter experiences, this fun-filled sightseeing tour takes you through the harbor where you can learn about our area’s abundant wildlife and view dolphins in their natural environment. Encounters with Dolphins guarantees a dolphin sighting on every trip, which lasts for 1½-1¾ hours and includes a stop at Compass Island where you can collect shells, hunt for treasure, or swim and snorkel in the beautiful water (snorkeling gear provided).
Tours, which take place on a 40’ Coast Guard-inspected excursion boat, depart multiple times throughout the day from Clearwater Beach Marina, located just a half mile from our hotel. You can even bring your favorite furry companions for free (as long as all passengers on board agree)!
Clearwater Marine Aquarium
Meet sea turtles, dolphins, otters, sharks, and many more marine creatures when you visit the Clearwater Marine Aquarium. This aquarium is the home of Winter and Hope, the two dolphins at the heart of both Dolphin Tale movies, parts of which were filmed on site. Ricky the African Great White Pelican was also a star in both movies as Rufus.
Located just 1.4 miles from our hotel, this aquarium focuses on “preserving marine life and the environment while inspiring the human spirit through leadership in education, research, rescue, rehabilitation, and release.” They provide the highest standards of care for all their animals, with the ultimate objective of releasing them back into the wild, if possible.
